Chelsea Flower Show
We’ve just returned from an amazing Chelsea Flower Show, where we worked with Monty Don and Jamie Butterworth to create the BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden.
With Monty and Jamie leading on the garden’s design and construction, James+Cook looked after the site’s planting. Over the course of ten days we helped to bring Monty’s vision to life, turning a barren patch of turf into an incredible space for dogs and their owners.
Breaking new ground
With construction well underway on the residential buildings at this huge site in North Cornwall, we’ve been able to begin establishing its surrounding landscape.
The groundworks for the swimming pool are now complete, and preparation for the walled garden, potager, and orchard are in full swing. At nearly 100 acres in size, this is one of our biggest and most exciting ongoing projects.
Mastering masonary
Stone is one of our favourite materials and there’s plenty of it in this heritage garden in St Ives, Cornwall.
From recalimed red brick, to traditional slate walls and granite stepping stones, this project makes the most of the South West’s traditional masonary. Occupying a commanding site above Carbis Bay, its tessellated terraces offer a series of textures that lead to the envy of any writer: a secluded shepherd’s hut. We can’t wait for the next phase of this project when we can begin introducing plants and of course, colour!
