Our garden design process
The steps we follow to create your perfect landscape.
We provide a complete garden design service across Cornwall and Devon.
From the creation of landscape masterplans to detailed planting specifications, we use the following steps to organise the development of each design idea.
1. Consultation + feasibility
We will appraise your outdoor space and discuss design ideas, preferences, and budget. This conversation will inform appropriate design strategies, and following further discussion, the garden design brief.
Our services, fees, and timeline will be confirmed before we start design work.
2. Site analysis
Next, we will explore the characteristics which influence the proposal and garden design details. We will analyse the qualities, opportunities, and limitations of the outdoor space to ensure the proposal works with the location, context and brief.
We will instruct the completion of any necessary landscape surveys at this point too.
3. The proposal
To both interrogate and communicate the emerging design idea, we will create 3D digital models that allow you to view the proposed garden design in much the same way as you would in the real world.
Once agreed, this forms the landscape masterplan for the site. We’ll discuss potential materials and planting plans at this stage too.
4. Garden build
For some projects we oversee the agreed proposal ourselves, using a network of reliable trades and craftspeople we regularly work with.
Where the garden design is an integral part of a residential project, we work alongside the architects and construction company responsible for the overarching build.
And if you have a particularly large landscape, we will produce a tender package and manage the process from start to finish.
5. After care
After the project has been completed, as plants establish and grow, we help support clients and gardeners to ensure the design matures as planned.
Polly and Matt completely transformed our garden.
“They listened carefully to all our initial thoughts and the way we wanted to use the garden, and came up with a vision which surpassed our expectations.”
