Camel Valley meadows

This farmhouse enjoys expansive views of the Camel Valley, but it lacked a true garden of its own. A formal layout to complement the architecture is punctuated with reflecting pools, an oak gazebo and pergola, which together frame the landscaped vistas. Natural, locally sourced materials are used throughout, including limestone, Cornish slate, corten steel, granite and clay pavers, which help to root this garden into its surroundings. However, it’s the perennial meadows which jostle for the limelight. Swathes of Helenium ‘Moorheim Beauty’, Agastache ‘Blue Fortune’ and Aster ageratoides ‘Ashvi’ drift through grasses including Sesleria autumnalis, Stipa gigantea and Calamagrostis brachytricha - to name but a few - all chosen to thrive in the exposed windy conditions. Completed in June 2023.

What the client said:

"We started with a house in a sloping field and now have a house surrounded by a stunning garden. Matt and Polly listened to all our requests and took them to the next level, on what is a very tricky site – reflecting the architecture of the house and its rural setting.

The whole landscaping team were a joy to work with and the detailing is beautiful, all a background to some sublime planting. We look forward to continuing working with them as our garden evolves and matures."
